Date and time
Location
NPL
Hampton Road Teddington TW11 0LW United KingdomDescription
A CLONETS (Clock Network Services) Training event at NPL, the UK’s National Measurement Institute on 26th February 2019.
Introduction to time and frequency transfer over fibre networks
This event is a one-day entry level workshop on the current state-of-the-art time and frequency transfer techniques relevant to a European-wide optical fibre network infrastructure. There will be presentations from international experts and poster sessions from industry, and the opportunity for a tour of the Time Scale lab where the UK’s national time scale UTC(NPL) is generated. This event is free to attend; please register below and contact clonets.event@npl.co.uk if any further information is required.
Information about the CLONETS project:
- European Union funded by the Horizon 2020 European Research and Innovation programme
- CLONETS (Clock Network Services) will provide strategy and innovation for clock services over optical fibre
- Aims to prepare the transition of time and frequency services to a permanent, pan-European, optical fibre-based network
- Consortium of 16 organizations from 7 European countries
- For further details see http://www.clonets.eu
Information about NPL:
- The UK`s National Physical Laboratory (NPL) sits at the intersection between scientific discovery and real world application
- NPL’s expertise and original research to develop and maintain the nation's primary measurement standards have benefited UK citizens and the UK economy for over a century
- NPL employs over 500 scientists, and is based in a purpose built laboratory in south-west London http://www.npl.co.uk/
This training event may be of interest to:
- Network engineers interested in timing
- Students starting MSc/PhD in fields related to fibre optics or time and frequency
- Industries which require precise time and/or frequency, e.g. finance, power, telecoms
- Government or industry members interested in GNSS resiliency
